computer games as a kind of babysitter for your kids

In this essay, I will reflect about the use of computer games as a kind of babysitter for children. As a result of technological advancement, the computer games have become very common in homes. In this way and in the face of today’s hard working day, adults have resorted to computer games as a method of babysitting, this due to its easy access and its attractiveness to children. However, these forms of care may not be the best for children, since a real figure is needed from whom to learn, give and receive love and care. As we know there are many childrens who do not have this figure and develop problems in their adult life. As can be seen, this works as an alternative for adults who do not have the time to care for their children but its not the best method.

Exercise 1

We will conclude this essay by reflecting on the following quote: "how civilized a country is can be measured by how it treats its inmates or those in prison". The above quote refers to the dignified treatment of people in a society that accounts for their level of civilization. The logics of torture and ill-treatment do not reduce crime rates. For this reason it is important for countries to generate new prison policies. It is clear that the prison keeps people exposed to violence, and more than correcting behaviors, it is a school of bad practices. Thinking about behavioral changes that do not consider punishment is everyone's task, but it is mainly the responsibility of the State. A civilized society does not mistreat its prisoners. A civilized society provides second opportunities and makes use of education as the main tool for change and transformation.

Post 3

First, I think obesity is a public health problem because food in many places is not healthy at all, but also because we lack nutritional education. In this sense, the State, through public and educational policies, must provide the tools for people to opt for a better diet and an active and non-sedentary life. Obesity can affect a person in specific, but when it makes a person's life difficult, it is important to provide useful tools. These support, should be nutritional information, economic improvements to access to a  better alimentation, and activities associated with sports. On the other hand, there is a discrimination against obese people. This could response to beauty stereotypes. In this case the State must encourage non-discrimination of obese persons and impulse, over  education, that there are different types of bodies and that thinness is not synonymous of health.

Post 2: The skin as a mark of migration

In recent years, big migratory waves have been witnessed in Chile. Chile has been the destination of various people, who seek the dream of a better life, of a job and a home. Immigration in Chile is built as an idea. The use of the word immigrant is associated with a stigma. Its use is referred to only a sector of the people who arrive in Chile. It is a label associated with people from countries such as Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Haiti, among others. The arrival of Latin American and Caribbean immigrants to Chile has been a highly complex issue, which has brought various consequences. One of the problems that has been exposed with these waves of immigration is the problem of racial discrimination. This racism materializes in a generalized negative feeling towards immigrants, it is reflected in practices, actions, gestures and policies. Immigration in Chile is strongly associated with problems of discrimination, poverty and overcrowding.
