ENGLISH 5: WRITING A REPORT
Summer work experience in USA
The following essay describes and evaluates my experience as a volunteer in trumpet classes for children in the USA, in the city of texas.
about school
The Gilead music school welcomes children and young people with limited resources. Through musical learning they seek that children and young people do not get involved in the world of drugs. The school operates all year round, since the 2000s. And it has more than 150 students.
My experience at school
During the summer of 2020 I volunteered at the school for 2 months, and taught trumpet classes to a group of 15-year-olds. I had to do 2 one-hour classes a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
First month
The first sessions of classes we use to get to know each other, and talk about our life stories. This with the aim of generating trust and a bond with each student
Regarding the content of the classes, we dedicate ourselves to knowing the parts of the instrument. We learned to disassemble the trumpet and recognize all its components.
Second month
The second month when there was more confidence, we started doing practical work. We learned about trumpet playing technique, mouthpiece use, and sound enhancement.
We learned to play a song by reading the sheet music.
Results:
The closing of the trumpet summer course consisted of performing the song learned in front of the school students. The activity was very beautiful and reflected the work and dedication of the students.
General comment
One of the most difficult things about the job was knowing the conflicts of the young people. However, it was a very enriching and mutual learning experience.
conclusion
In conclusion, I believe that the experience of teaching young people is very rewarding, it generates security for your knowledge. I totally recommend looking for these types of opportunities to contribute to society and grow as a person.
